IF A GIRL IS A RABID SOCCER FAN...

Beckham is the inspiration behind Bend it Like Beckham. And I believe this a wonderfully fun film that takes familiar plots, rolls them all into one, and does it so deftly that it doesn't matter that this is a predictable movie:) In In the movie, there is a wedding and second-generation Asian Indians whoe are trying to explain their traditional values and cultures to their children. The movie also tells about (how it is called in the movie ) "underdog" sport teams, the difficulties they face up, inter-cultural relationships, and a sweet Indian girl trying to make her way in a man's world.
Jessis is a girl who lives in a strict family of proud and prospering Indian immigrants. Unlike elder sister Pinky, who works at an airport and has delighted the parents with her wedding plans, Jess is a problem for the family. She is still awaiting acceptance to begin her law studies, but, she's a rabid soccer fan who loves to play with the neighborhood guys. Her parents hope she'll become engaged to Tony (her closest friend) but he's a gay. Her parents want her and her sister Pinky to be good Indian daughters. Pinky's wedding is approaching, so that the pressure on Jess increases. Nevertheless, things change when Jules sees Jess playing in the park with some guys. Jules calls Jess to her girl team, coached by Joe. Actually, Jess is finally doing what she loves to do, but she has to lie to her parents. Jess must keep this activity secret from her parents, because they want their daughter to dress feminine and marry Indian. Anyway, everything goes very well and Jess becomes a key player in the amateur team and becomes a close friend of Jules. At this point I want to mention about Jules's mother, Paula:) She is such funny person that I laugh her comments on movie very much:) The first one coming to my mnd is the scene in which Paula is sure Jess and Jules are involved in a lesbian relationship.
What I have noticed that much of the humor derives from watching the parents:)Their reactions are very comic:) The nice thing is that director has a gentle touch on Indian culture without mocking it.Furthermore, I think it is also easily understandable to people who aren't familiar with the culture; it's more about having odd parents than anything else. The characters were so well written. They are more than ordinary characters. Jess' father and mother truly care for the welfare of their daughter. They want her to grow up like they did, and don't realize that the culture Jess lives in is very different from the one they grew up in. Jules's mother is the same way as Jules' mother. She doesn't think it's proper for a girl to play soccer. in

I appreciate the senarist very much:) I think she spent lots of the time and gave lot of care and thought into the characters and stories. Derinitely, It is this attention and detailed study of the senarist that makes Bend it Like Beckham so enjoyable:) Although it is two hours, while watching it I could not realize how fast the time had past:) And as a last point, I want to mention the character Jess. Even though she is angry with her family, she is respectful to them and love them. These two opposite feelings are reflected ery effectively on this movie, which is also a great work:)
